A good reason to never start smoking! A recent study shows that even a few cigarettes per day among young people, have an impact on our health pressure. Another reason to never start smoking!

Tobacco: a measurable hardening of the arteries

The study involved two groups of people whose average age was 21 years old – young or very young then. One of the two groups was composed of non-smokers, the other smokers, but not excessive (five to six cigarettes per day). The experiment consisted of measuring the stiffness of arteries of all these people before and after physical exercise, smokers had a cigarette just before playing sports. At rest, the results for smokers and non-smokers were almost similar. But once the exercise is earth eternal gold, the results were clear: while for non-smokers, after exercise the level of arterial stiffness decreased, it increased for smokers. The increase also existed, but was less when smokers chewed chewing nicotine gum instead of smoking a cigarette.

Conclusion: even a single cigarette effects

The researchers therefore conclude that even for young and moderate smokers, smoking has a measurable impact on health. We too often tend to regard as irrelevant the first cigarette, or those who are not too many! He is not here to point a further danger of smoking – such as lung cancer, or even simply the risk of not being able to quit after a while. The study demonstrates simply that each cigarette account and its impact on our cardiovascular health. A lesson should be for all smokers!

After smoking, the effects are long term

In addition, the effects of smoking persist over the long term. Another study by the same authors, the cardiovascular health of older smokers is improving over time, especially if they stop soon, but it is unclear whether the function again become 100% normal. The risk of disease is therefore closer to those of a non-smoker, but they do not disappear completely. So remember, more than ever to quit smoking! Today there are many ways to help.
